Night Traveler featuring Jody Maphis with Greg Larry, Kevin Lloyd, Terry Mullaney & Gary Price

Nashville recording artist Jody Maphis — son of the late country music guitar legend Joe Maphis —

performs with local musicians for a special night of classic country, rock and original music.

Jody Maphis is the son of Cumberland native Joe Maphis, known as “The King of the Strings," who performed with his wife vocalist Rose Lee Maphis, a native of Clear Spring. Joe and Rose shared the stage with the top stars of country music from the 1940s to the 1980s including Merle Travis, The Carter Family, and Barbara Mandrell. They were cast members of ABC-TV's Town Hall Party broadcast live from Los Angeles from 1951 - 1961. The Maphises were pioneers of early country music and the Bakersfield Sound.

Jody Maphis — an accomplished guitarist and percussionist — has performed with Johnny Cash, Marty Stuart, the Earl Scruggs Review, Johnny Rodriguez, Michael Martin Murphy, Gary Allen and many more. He can be heard on numerous classic country records beginning in the 1970s. Jody wants to spend time in Cumberland to raise awareness of our areas rich musical heritage and help promote local talent just as his father did for many years. Come out and see Jody! He will be traveling to the area from his home in Nashville.
