Frostburg Jazz Quintet

Comprised of some of the area’s finest jazz musicians, the Frostburg Jazz Quintet (FJQ) has made a name for themselves as a cutting-edge musical powerhouse that celebrates, explores, and performs a wide range of “social music”. What makes the FJQ so unique, is that their performances are inspired by their backgrounds as both classical and jazz musicians, creating a colorful tapestry of sound that often blurs the lines of genres.

Each of the members of the FJQ are faculty in the music department at Frostburg State University, in Frostburg, Maryland, where they foster creativity and artistry in the next generation of musicians. Brent Weber – saxophones, Donny Albrecht – trumpet, Tom Harrison – keyboards, Peter Lewis – bass, and Mackenzie LaMont – Drums are in constant collaborations both educationally, and musically.

Independently, members of the FJQ have performed with artists such as, Ray Brown, Hank Jones, John Fedchock, Ronan Tynan, Eddie Gomez, Jeff Coffin, and the Jake Mowrer Quartet. Their musical journeys have led to performances at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Sculler’s Jazz Club, Ryles Jazz Club, and in concert halls throughout the country.
